I had a Riemann Zeta WU (35089736) which repeatedly would only go up to about 5% completed and would then restart. This happened repeatedly, and after several hours I aborted the WU. Should I have just let it run?

Followup to previous message: I now have a more powerful computer, but I'm still having the same issue as described below, running for 3-4 minutes, getting up to 3-4% completed, and then restarting. Log shows the following:

8/8/2017 8:43:44 PM | SZTAKI Desktop Grid | Task 9d7a4224-bb89-4c99-b93f-16e20e2179a3_a2ccd940-7756-4d95-a8ab-fba616410ec6_3d6a3057-3466-4cc0-9ae2-75dc0474c4aa_2 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
8/8/2017 8:43:44 PM | SZTAKI Desktop Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.
This cycle is repeated about every 3 minutes or so.

      I'm now running Windows 7 Professional CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz. Using 4 cores.

Is this the way this application operates normally, continuing to cycle every 3 minutes or so? If so, I will continue to "crunch" this type of work unit on this machine. Otherwise, it's just a waste time and electricity. Thank you.

The recommended fix for that situation is to reset the project. There is corruption in one of the project files and forcing it to redownload all of it's working files usually corrects the issue.

Good luck getting new WU if you have to do a reset though. I haven't gotten a WU for 9 to 11 weeks on 4 machines.

Thanks for the info. Will see if it makes any difference. So far, all jobs have ended as:

          Error while computing,
--too many exits after running at least 3-4 hours each.

I looked into several WU in my cache and noted a good share of jobs had timed out. Also, folks appear to be hording huge caches of up to 400 WUs or even more. No doubt that significantly contributes to the shortage of work.

PS: Are the Zeta jobs the only ones actively being worked on at present?

Did the project reset fix your issues?

No idea on the current distribution of WU types.
Project mods very rarely update the forums.
Maybe there is better way to contact the project?
