    Hi,

    are there any plans to release a native FreeBSD client? I\'m currently running sztaki using Linux emulation.

      hmm depends, if there are more people requesting it then sure why not. if not
      then we have to add your request to our (endless) todo list :( btw is there
      a serious problem with using it through the linux emulation layer ?

          like Nightbird says... its mostly a cosmetic issue but it \"feels\" better to run a native client and have the webpage show the operating system you really use :)

              self-reply...

              More reasons for a native FreeBSD client:
              * works with the native core client, the Linux version doesn\'t (ABI issues)
              * no need for a procfs which the Linux core client uses to obtain the amount of memory. procfs\'s seem to be insecure.
              * more potential users (those who already run the native core from the FreeBSD ports and do not feel like switching to a Linux core client)

              A native client could be released either as source ( >:-) ) or as a prebuilt binary (one built on FreeBSD 4.x is the most compatible).

                Hmm, could anyone post the actual link to the Linux binary? Maybe it works with a native FreeBSD client after \'brandelf -t Linux BINARY\'

                    Thanks!

                    But now I get a \'platform anonymous not found\' message from the server and communications are deferred for 24h using the brandelf\'d Linux binary and a native FreeBSD client with an app_info.xml file.

                      my app_info.xml :

                      <app_info>

                      <executable/>
                      </file_info>
                      <app_version>
                      <app_name>search</app_name>
                      <version_num>1.02</version_num>

                      <file_name>search-1.2_i686-pc-linux-gnu</file_name>
                      <main_program/>
                      </file_ref>
                      </app_version>
                      </app_info>

                      It seems that my subtle protest of pinging the work server once a day requesting work for freebsd does not have much effect, I still get a \'platform anonymous not found\' message...

                        I put in the Wish List.
                        (i can\'t do better, unluckily, except point Adam to your request)

                        interesting, the thread on Einstein@home about the FreeBSD Albert Application :)

                            Yes
                            Though Einstein has some problems : with some threads, you get \"Unable to handle request\" and inside others threads (like your link), topics are missing.
                            Old backup ?

                            edit : ok i\'m off topic ;)
                            now i get

                              any news on native *BSD clients?
                              SIMAP supports *BSD natively since last month or so.
