Why are the downloaded units so small (around 10kB)? Each unit takes (my computer) about 20 minutes to process and I\'m everlastingly being asked to connect to the internet to upload results (that is, when I am able to receive units!). Each time I have SZTAKI units to process, my BOINC manager gives me a message \"Using earliest-deadline-first scheduling because computer is overcommitted\" because you only allow 4 days for results to be processed.

It seems more logical and efficient in computer usage to issue larger units and allow longer time for each to be processed. Maybe someone who knows would care to comment? My experience of multidimensional mathematics is somewhat limited!

        @ Peter Whipps
        What\'s your preference for :
\"Connect to network about every ??
(determines size of work cache; maximum 10 days)\"

My setting is at 2 days: although I\'m normally able to connect a bit more frequently.
I have since received a batch of the larger units which evidently failed to save when I closed down last night - so started again at zero this morning. Seeing the difficulties others were having, I thought it wisest to abort because there seems to be some problem with these.
Later today (very perverse this!) I received a batch of 31 units which averaged about 2 minutes each to process.
This was followed this evening by a batch of no less than 58 units averaging about 4 minutes.
Perhaps your scheduler computer has seen my earlier posting and is having a little fun with me |:-)

I just wish they would be consistent...the first ones I downloaded were all small, so I have 20 of the large uints and it is set to run 20%. One was taking 20 hours...the rest are around 8-10 hours. I aborted all but 3 of them...and if this happens again I may quit.

Frankly, i see no solution about the wus sent feb. 23th. (except that you can abort them)
For many people (the majority), the wus are too numerous and too long for a deadline of feb. 27th.
According this link, the size of WUs has been reduced.
You can try to reduce the cache and see if you can increase it (if you wish) with the new and shorter wus.
In 1 or 2 weeks, a new application will be ready.

If you received short wus, so you\'re really lucky ! ;)
