I am getting these work units with time estimates of 46 minutes but the first one was only at 75% after 14 hours.

Then when I exited and restarted BOINC it was at 0%! Grrrr...

I have been aborting a whole bunch because it downloads about 20 due to the underestimate and my computer is never going to finish most of them. Plus the estimate annoys me.
    What\'s up?

They changed the size of the WU. BOINC can only go on what it knows from the past. So I\'m in the same boat. I\'m running in EDF with about 36 hours of work to go before deadline in a few days. I\'m probably going abort at least half of them to make sure my other projects don\'t go over deadline.

        Not really an \"experience\" thing.

The estimated time comes from the benchmark results and something from the <workunit> configuration.

        rsc_fpops_est / p_fpops / 3600 seems to the estimated time (in hours).

For one of my boxes this would be :

        <rsc_fpops_est>10000000000000.000000</rsc_fpops_est>
        <p_fpops>1999939262.353653</p_fpops>

        10000000000000 / 1999939262 / 3600 = 1.3889 = 1:23

so rsc_fpops_est should be multiplied with 11.5 or so.

There is an element of history too. The 5.x clients try to make more educated guesses about run time by remembering how long WU\'s for that project have run in the past, and adjusting accordingly. With this sudden change in the length of WU for Sztaki, that adjustment factor is out of whack.

It will start getting better again after you\'ve done a few WU of the new size.

I have the same problem as Rob Plant, I had no probelms with the previous project. But if this is issue is not resolved, I am going to quit this project and more then likely never return.

              Hi everybody!

It happened to me too. I \"woke up\" with a lot of downloaded WUs, and each one takes between 10 and 19 hours to complete. Most of wouldn\'t even start before the deadline.
I saw in the news that the processing of the 12th dimension has begun, and the client is not optimised. I can understand that.
For these few days I stopped the other projects, and set BOINC to use both CPUs (hyperthread), so that Sztaki can catch up... not enough.

A few WUs will be dropped. And I stop Sztaki after the current WUs are procesed, until an optimised client is ready, or the deadlines are bigger than 10 days. It is not fair to the other projects - they got less time even before this, because of the short Sztaki deadlines.

              I\'m sorry guys.
(I wonder if this burst of flop/s is due to this \"stress\", to meet the deadlines. We\'ll see, if it keeps above 1 Teraflop/s... not because of me anyway).

Because of so many cancellations of WUs the one I was one was dropped by the system because of too many failures. So I just cancelled it after 16 hours of processing, since it was not going to be any good.

I have but this project on not to accept amy more for the time being.
