Just wondering cause all I see are thseLong w/u with
small competion times. Is this a problem I can correct myself?

\"Before\", wus were really short (forgot the last problems with big-big wus) : sometimes, some seconds.
Now, Adam is trying to get bigger wus and wus are becoming bigger.

I have some WUs that look like they are in the range of 4-5 hours. That\'s a big jump from 8 - 10 minutes. The two I see crunching have each crunched for an hour each so final time are just a guess.

From the times I am seeing, he has succeeded. The wu\'s I have crunched so far today have run 2 to 4 hours. I got 25 of them because I was set up for shorter wu\'s, but the 5 day deadline means I will have them all done within the deadline.

This is much better than our last \"big\" workunit days :-) This seems to be about the perfect size. But I am sure someone will complain they are too long, you can\'t make everyone happy.

Thanks Adam, we know you have a hard job and you do it very well.

              That\'s a big jump from 8 - 10 minutes.

That\'s the exponential jump I was talking about. For the few minutes long WUs the search was done from -20 to +20. Now the few hours long WUs do the search from -40 to +40. The search interval has only been doubled, yet the processing time needed jumped a big...

A couple of my systems have downloaded hundreds of WUs, presumably premised on the very short running times prevailing over the last few days--but now I\'m concerned they won\'t be able to complete them all before deadline. I\'ve set them not to accept any more work, but even so they\'re already looking overcommitted. I guess I\'ll have a better idea how they\'re doing after the weekend, during which they\'ll get to crunch pretty well uninterrupted. Anyway, I\'m hereby giving notice that many of the results in my cache may have to be counted as \'missing in action\' five days from now. Sorry, but maybe the \'stepping up\' wasn\'t gradual enough for these BOINC clients to predict completion times accurately and download appropriate amounts of work, or maybe the deadlines are still incommensurate with the WU sizes.

                  @ Adam
Is it possible to use a compiler which would increase the performance of the application ? or is the application already \"optimized\" ?
