    Ãœdv mindenkinek! Hi to all!

Miután a BOINC letöltötte a "munkát", folyamatosan hibaüzenetet kapok, ami számolási hibára hivatkozik. Ez már a 2. gép amit regisztrálok, az első nagyszerűen működik. Mi lehet a baj?

After downloading the WU I receive an error message telling me about computing error. It's the second computer I registered, the first is working fine. What can be the problem?

    Előre is köszönöm a segítséget
Thank you very much in advance

What Boinc version do you using?
Pls post the error message here...

What about the second WU? Some people laugh when I say this, ;-), but each time I attach a computer to a new project, I have a computation error with the first WU ..... then it works fine....

          Hi!
          I use BOINC 4.43
          The error message was:
          2005.07.23. 16:06:10|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Unrecoverable error for result e420f9d4-fb64-4c7a-8c78-4ddf9215e33c_0 ( - exit code -1073741757 (0xc0000043))

I repeated it a couple of times, but nothing changed (except for the number of the WU :D )

            I think it's getting serious...

I have used 4.45, got the damn "Unhandled Exception Error" from time to time, then 4.71 working fast and now 4.72 (a little bit slower) but not got any of "Unrecoverable Errors".

You can try to work with 4.71 (many good changes here), set the daily quote to 0.01 for testing, if this also doesn`t work you can still go back to 4.43.

              Don`t shy to try ;)

Rebirther, the error he's got is not so much a Boinc error. It's a problem with the WU he had which couldn't work with the science application. Boinc doesn't crunch, all it does is manage the projects, upload and download units.

Now, if KNJ has a lot of these, the developers here may want to look into his hardware, see what might be wrong. Maybe they need to release a new science app. As long as those same devs don't give us the option to see who is crunching what work unit, I at least am just guessing.

Ok, then I have many luck to get not one of these WUs, its just time for the next science application to fix the restart bug (zero time) too.

                    0xc0000043=STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION

This error message can be taken as a direction where to dig.

"take care" to use not to much over clocked hardware...

a ping or traceroute on networklevel could show how long a network packet
needs to "walk" over the network.

When a network interface, a router (software and hardware), a proxyserver or something in this area is "slowing down" the handling, the origin client could suffer.

                    goodluck!

--> same issue when using a more recent boinc client, like 4.44, 4.45??

I tried it on a third computer with a 4.45 client and the error persists :(
The same network connection (and same IP) is used by all the devices, I just walk with the network card from one PC to another (it uses USB) when need connection.. Can this cause that sharing violation error?

is the understanding right, you have a couple of PCs who are not connected to the internet, but you have an USB based network "plug" and with this you are
walking from host to host to give a temporary internet access??

Basically an interesting idea, but perhaps a little time demanding..

The OS will survive this torture, but what's an level application?

The OS is ready for this handling, what will be brocken is the "logical session" from the clients application(s) to the project servers.

With a defined dial in connection, the client (should) know, when a physical connection is established or not and can handle it.

At your place, the USB device there is "just no more available", the behave could differ.

Sure you did it, prior pluging off the USB network connector, you did the "disable BOINC network access" to the client and only when getting the message "Suspending network activity - user request" then pluging off hte USB device.

might it could be 2 other things:

try a more recent driver for the USB based network adapter/USB hub, perhaps a driver bug..

Perhaps in the properties of the driver, there is a setting covering better the powering on/off of the device and it's (logical) session management

                        goodluck!!!

Yes, the understanding is right. I have 1 PC permanently connected to the internet with this USB network card and when I need connection on the other 2 I just plug it in. It's not especially time demanding because all the PCs are located in a room with the area of 15 m^2 :) My ISP allows me only one PC to connect, so I have no other choice
I set connection time to 2 days so I have to repeat the procedure only once in two days. I used this technique with another (not BOINC-based) distributed computing project and it was all fine.
The BOINC client also seems to have no trouble with connecting, it downloads all the project files. After some seconds of processing, it gives the mentioned error message

Maybe the WUs were corrupted. But it isn't very probable

I've checked your WU's that have crashed on your's and I found it to be pretty strange though. You had about 35 errors reproted back and than it just started to work and from than on you only have successful WUs. All WUs have exited with the same error code which is for sure not a program specific one. So I can't think of anything else, just something hardware specfic...
