        I\'ve suspended this project for several weeks -

        I\'d like to start it up again -

        Can anyone tell me if it is working?

            I wouldn\'t like to guarantee it is error free.

            After Adam cancelled the unsent 1000-line WUs I waited for a week or two for them to clear before I tried downloading any new tasks. The first one I got was a 2000-line WU. That was an initial shock but it seemed to be make good progress and in fact completed in about an hour and a quarter. Same for the second one. But both of these WUs appeared to take my computer way longer than other computers which shouldn\'t really be the case for my Mac G5. I notice some results are from Linux so I wonder if they are from the buggy client version of a month or two ago? These WUs are still to reach quorum at the time of writing.

            <http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/workunit.php?wuid=30039>
            <http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/workunit.php?wuid=30081>

            The third WU (below) has reached quorum, declared my result is invalid and granted zero credit. Grrr.

            Now have a look at the crunch times.
            Nearly 4,900 seconds for a Mac G5; 547 seconds for Intel/Linux; 398 seconds for Athlon/Linux. I suspect those Linux results are faulty despite being declared valid. Either that or the Mac client is twelve times slower than Linux and I doubt that.

            <http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/workunit.php?wuid=32173>

            I am not confident that my crunching is doing any useful science with this project at the moment, so I am going to again suspend for a month and keep monitoring messages here.

              These Linux boxes are not running the last application 2.03 and Adam said \"The problem of other platforms failed to validate against linux boxes have been solved by linux version 2.03. Hopefully, all the linux boxes have already downloaded this version\"

                I assumed results from the faulty Linux app prior to 2.03 had already been flushed from the system and affected WUs re-issued. Apparently not. My mistake.

                Since re-starting computation after waiting for the \'1000-line run forever\', WUs to clear, I have crunched only three WUs. As Nightbird noted, all three have run into Linux 2.01 results. Wonder how long this will keep up?

                    I got another file-transfer error today, on WU No.2488; this time it was my WinXP/AMD system:

                    <file_xfer_error> <file_name>2e44dd9a-d62e-464a-8a08-7676bbb0794b_efa8514d-c67c-4ffb-bfa2-0d2cdf9d201d_515_3_3</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> </file_xfer_error>

                    Does anyone have some idea what these are about?

                    My two quorum partners were Intel systems; one got the error, but the other didn\'t. Even though there was only one successful result, it got validated, while an \'extra\' unsent result is marked \"Didn\'t need\". (Anomalies like this, and the one I reported in the Wild Run Times thread, don\'t do much for my confidence in the validation system.)

                    At least this one didn\'t take long ...

                      ok, after finishing a very long WU (more than 220hrs) finaly I got new short WU\'s,
                      but none of them was finished succesfull, all with client-error - see
                      here,
                      here,
                      here or
                      here.
                      - some of the other machines, where the wu\'s were sent, got the error too , some didn\'t.
                      My computer is a apple-powerbook, the other computers were Windows XP
                      In the error-output:

                      </stderr_txt>
                      <message>
                      <file_xfer_error>

                      </file_xfer_error>

                      and it seems a lot of people have got the same problems

                      sorry, but I think it\'s time that this project will produce some positive messages or it will go to hell :(

                        Eleven days after announcing the new short work units, all results on my four Windows machines are still returning \"Computation Error.\" No new information on the homepage since 16/08. And this is not the first time newly formulated work units have been released without adequate testing. Sorry, but my computer resources are needed elsewhere. I\'m gone.

                          I had a similar experience last evening.

                          So, I reset the project.

                          Let me know when it is working again.

                            8 hours crunching to no avail.

                            Looking at my results page there is not a single successful result there. I will put this project on no new work for now....

                              Yep. I\'ve got the same problem 3WUs and 3 file errors, all on a Dual 1GHz PowePC G4 with 1MB SDRAM (More than enough รข?? never seen less than 400GB free), running OS X 10.4.7.

                              I\'ll try one more before suspending the project and waiting until Adam gets back and can look into the program.
