If you\'re using a MS OS and an Intel or Amd or Via or any cpu which doesn\'t support SSE2 instructions,

    - The best would be to set the project to \'No New Tasks\' on your machine and wait for a new application (2.04 or >) for Windows or any fix from the project.

    - If you try to run the new application 2.01 for Windows/x86 (online since 16 Oct 2006) or the test versions 2.02 - 2.03, you will get probably this error message :
    < message > - exit code -1073741795 (0xc000001d)
    < /message >

and all your wus will crash immediately.

    - If you succeed to run the application 2.01 for Windows or the test versions 2.02 - 2.03 using an Intel or Amd or Via or any cpu which doesn\'t support SSE2 instructions, feel free to write here what Cpu/OS you\'re using.

    edit :
    new advice

    edit :
    2.04 or >

      Hello!
I do have 4 pc active running this project, all AMD machines and the only one with problems seems to be the one with AMD XP 3000 cpu running Win XP Pro. Since the 16 of october I have received 13 Wu\'s only 3 errored out , all on the pc with AMD Xp 3000 cpu; wild shot, some problems with the sse support on older cpu??

Working and ended since 16th this month:

      http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/results.php?userid=99

Hope this can help solving the problem!!

      Have a nice weekend!

        Thanks Nightbird,

I think it would be fair to post those general issues on homepage so people can get it via RSS feeds and other BOINC-related sites.
(all active crunchers already see that forum is overhelmed by errors reported from non-Intel users. It is known issue for several days that new SZTAKI application hardly works on non-Intel CPUs and homepage annoucement of new version as of Oct 16th may give false hopes to participants.)

I again suggest to downgrade to beta or alpha.

Thanks for the link Hans, but it doesn\'t work. You should have posted like http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/hosts_user.php?userid=99

What may be worth - your error rate seems to be correlated with BOINC version of 5.6.3, 5.6.4 and 5.6.5.
It is unclear on how your Opetron is doing and what BOINC version is it on and it may be worth give it a try...
(perhaps it is a false correlation).

I\'m not administrator so i can\'t write on the home page.

Adam said that the project will not be downgraded.

A Sztaki Beta Testing page (like Einstein@Home Beta Test) would be a good option.

            Hello again!

During the night/this morning, some more wu\'s has been running and additional input can be given.

My opteron workstation (Opteron 270)has completed one wu (http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/result.php?resultid=69543) and has been running this wu(http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/workunit.php?wuid=16333) for nearly 7 hours without complaining, core client 5.6.5!

Another pc(AMD 64 X2 4600)got this result ( http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/result.php?resultid=59322) some day ago also with core client 5.6.5 and also has started 2 new wu\'s running nice!

My Amilo A1630 (Amd 64 3400)has compleded 5 wu\'s(Among these results, http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/result.php?resultid=65044 and http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/result.php?resultid=65826), no problems as far I can tell, all waiting for valididation All ware using core client 5.6.4.

Last comes the problematic one http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10937 (AMD XP 3000)running core client 5.6.3 lately also with 5.6.5, thought about down grade it to 5.4.11 When I saw this result (http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/result.php?resultid=69544) so I guess no use!

Hope this a more complete and more usefull post!

I see a difference between your Opteron, your A64, your A64 X2 and a Barton 3200+ : the 3 first support SSE2, the fourth only SSE.

If anybody has a better idea ?

So my wild shot in post 4406 was not so bad ??
I did take a look in wikipedia to read more about sse/sse2 (link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE2) , the last part about cpus NOT supporting sse2 found some interesting stuff.(Celeron 370 or slot 1; post 4414 comes to mind!!

I am not sure what compiler the project uses, take a look at \"Compiler Usage\".

Hope this can further help the project to dig deeper into the difficulty that has popped up!

(but not a 1a9d6387 since they seem \'difficult\')

                          With regards and good luck;

Pretty good idea your \'wild shot\' and very interesting reading. ;)
                          Thanks.
Of course, nothing is sure but at least, that doesn\'t seem a bad idea and anyway better than nothing.

the estimate had been for just over 1 hour.
I let it run for a few minutes beyond the estimate.

It was still on \"00.0%\" when I stopped it and reset the project.

I get alot of pop up messages saying:
                                            \"
                                            Program Error
search_2.01_win.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.
                                            [OK]
                                            \"

Why can the server not detect my CPU type and refuse to dole out more work to it?

Test feedback needed for AMD friendly code. Update available here

Various clock speeds but all > stock/default.

Existing app works (well runs over 1 min) onz:

                                              754 socket Semprons 3000, 3100, 3300 crunchers. All Palermo core Rev DH-E6s.
Same for Manchester and Toledo core X2 machines

I downloaded and renamed it to v2.01 and tried it on a 3 socket A AMD XP machines, a Thoroughbred core, a Thorton core and a Barton core DTR. All went thru there workunits in 1 sec with:

I had download and reanamed the AMD friendly code, and was testing the AMD friendly code and Sztaki was progressing fine, until I had to shut down my AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+ computer. When I restarted the computer, SZTAKI re downloaded the orignal 2.01 file and replaced the renamed AMD friendly file. All three workunits I had on my computer ended in error with:

So what is to become of all the crunching that I had to abort because it stopped running? Most all of teh work I have done lately is still in pending mode waiting for a quorum of 3. the units that finished successfuly have very varied result times and credit numbers.
I have stopped accepting new WU\'s until I see some results granting credits.

If you abort a WU you get of course no credit. An aborted WU is of no use neither to the mathematicians nor to your fellow crunchers waiting for their quorum.
I have stopped accepting new WU\'s until I see some results granting credits.

Getting your credits has nothing to do with your stopping or continuing. As soon as you\'ve sent in your result, the credit granting process is out of your control. You can just wait and drink tea until the quorum is reached. Only patient people will be happy with this project. Anyhow, in future the results will drop in faster, but for some time the old WUs are still being recycled, and this will take some time.

Stopping crunching is even counterproductive to the credit granting process. The faster we (as a whole) crunch, the earlier we (as a whole) get our credits. You wait impatiently for other people to send in their results, but remember that the others are just as dependent on your results (I have 21,739 pending credits). Please accept new WUs, we are grateful for that!

                                                          No erre varrjatok gombot ;]

Robert, I understand the process. I have been doing this for quite a while. My frustration is that a SZTAKI WU may take over a PC for 5-6 days worth of processing and still result in an error. I know that errors can be useful to the analysts. But when one person crunches the WU in 4 hours and I spend 175 hours and 3 users have client errors I am suspecioius about the WU. At this time I will be devoting my CPU cycles to a project that seems more productive. I enjoy the CREDITS I get from this work but I am more satusfied when my PC is being productive.

The official application 2.03 and now 2.04 (installed on the server since the 23 Nov 2006) support All cpus and they are faster.
