Yes, I run the 64 bit release of Ubuntu. I guess it\'s a problem of recognizing the platform... Still strange, I do have the boinc-client & boinc-manager (version 5.4.11-1) installed on this platform. So, what\'s wrong?

I tried to add other projects also, but got the same problem.

        BR.

Only a handful of projects have a 64 bit science app.

I don\'t know if this is one of them.

(I\'m not a Linux expert so take this with a grain of salt).

I think if you have the right stuff installed with your kernal, you should be able to run the 32 bit BOINC client and that will request the 32 bit science app.

If you don\'t, then you\'ll need to run a project with a 64 bit app.

I do believe I have installed the right software on this platform. I don\'t need a Linux expert or so, rather I need someone to tell me why the work distributor server refuses to give me any task.
The main issue why do I get such a misleading error message as \"No work from project\".

I think (I only have a P4 so take this with a grain of salt)...

that because you are trying to get a 64 bit app with your request, the scheduler is telling you \'Hey, I don\'t have that. So there is no work.\'

Do you have a standard 32 bit BOINC installed or are you using a 64 bit one?

Or do you have 32 bits librairies installed too ?

(ehm, i would think that even with a 64 bit Linux system, you would be able to run a 32 bit application)

The problem may be the \"platform not found\" error. Did you install the AMD64 deb package of BOINC? If so, you might want to try installing the i386 deb package.

I do agree, it must be a \"platform not found error\", but even the error message is buggy. Strange: people ported BOINC to amd64 should have been aware of this. Right?

I run the amd64 deb package of BOINC. I can\'t install i386 deb, because the package manager says: \"Wrong architecture \'i386\'\".

I\'m more and more convinced it\'s general problem with this distribution. My college told me today he got an advice on a Debian forum not to use the amd64 version, since i386 is far more stable and better supported by software.

Hmm, I think I\'ll change the distro. Either will install Kubuntu i386 or give Sabayon 64 bit a try.

Thanks for all of your help.
