I think I may have \"stumbled on to something\" regarding WU\'s that seem to get stuck and then end abruptly when BOINC is shut down and restarted. That is, I just observed the following with my Result ID 180816 of the 21b342bd series wuid=9265:

Knowing that this WU was likely to be a problem, I exited and restarted BOINC very early (within the first 3 minutes) in its processing. (Note: My General Preference for Checkpointing is 5 minutes.) When BOINC restarted, to my surprise, the WU started over again from 0.00 CPU time. I then waited until the CPU time exceeded 5 minutes. I exited/restarted BOINC again and, this time, the WU ended immediately. And, it\'s stderr_txt file has the usual \"Output is empty\" message.

To me anyway, this seems to confirm the speculation that there is a problem related to writing checkpoints \"intra-Line\". And, hopefully, this minor \"bit\" of information will be helpful to those trying to find a \"bug\" in the code.

Got the same and in the same WU series - what\'s worse for me - checkpoints are being written (~20min in my case) but after restarting application seems not to use them right... :(

But I had another one from 21b342bd breed and after 300k sec it ended alright - but it might pose a problem for people who don\'t run their boxes 24/7 or need to restart sometimes :/
[edit] which on the other hand is problem for me ;) because I got no consensus on this WU ;(

I just had another result (Result ID 216701) that behaved the same way as the one cited below. That is, it started over from \"0.00 CPU time\" when I exited and restarted prior to the time BOINC would have written a checkpoint; but, it ended immediately following an exit/restart after the time a checkpoint would have been written. And, as usual, the stderr_txt file has an \"Output is empty\" message. The WU in question is wuid=17415.

And yet another one with the exact same behavior and outcome (wuid=10552 and my Result ID 230638). Note that all three units reported here are from the 21b342bd series.

Two more 21b342bd series WU\'s to report with the same outcomes as indicated below: wuid=13556/Result ID 257403 and wuid=10595/Result ID 257310.
