I downloaded 6 WUs to test the new application for Windows and they are crunched by search_2.05. The statistics show also that my sole result returned has been crunched by search_2.05. But when I check my Task Manager, it shows that program search_1.00 is running.

I just downloaded resultid=759209 and started processing it with the new Windows Search 2.05. (BTW: My Task Manager shows \"search 2.05\"). I thought I would check to see if the checkpointing bug had been fixed. That is, I let it process for a little over 5 minutes (my \"Write to disk at most every\" preference) and then shutdown BOINC. When I restarted it, Progress immediately jumped from 0% to 20%. Therefore (and unfortunately), it looks like bug hasn\'t been fixed.

EDIT: On the other hand, I have since shutdown and restarted BOINC several times since and each time it restarted at the 20% mark.

I decided to begin with a clean uninterrupted run, before testing anything special. It wouldn\'t really surprise me if the checkpoint bug hadn\'t been fixed, as the message on the home page is just about processing speed. But more testing is of course required. It might be a coincidence and the first line could really just have been finished when you stopped Boinc.

Adam\'s message here refers to checkpointing (but really doesn\'t say anything). (Maybe Attila could explain for us.) I guess I was just hopeful.

I agree (see the EDIT comment on my previous message).

Well, if I am right, this result encountered the checkpointing bug on both Line 1 and on Line 5. But for some reason, it appeared to restart properly on Line 2 and Line 3. (Note: I did not attempt a restart while it was processing Line 4.) @ Robert - I think this pretty much discounts the \"coincidence theory\" regarding Line 1.

I didn\'t shutdown, restarded Boinc or my machine.

I\'m afraid that the checkpointing problem is still here.

Nightbird, the very best is in my opinion that your result is invalid, but that it is good enough to trigger a canonical result, giving credit points to everyone but not to you!

I stopped Boinc twice on my dual processor machine. Each time 1 WU jumped to the next line and 1 continued on the same line.

All this, together with Stick\'s observations, is enough evidence that it is too early to resume my participation. I will finish the downloaded WUs and then wait again...

I didn\'t see that the canonical result has (also) the famous \"APP: Output is empty, placing msg in out.txt\".
If the canonical result is (in theory) the best result, i would say (rather) that at last it\'s not the worst. ;)

And so did all the others (which received credit).

If the canonical result is (in theory) the best result, i would say (rather) that at least it\'s not the worst. ;)

                      No. Obviously yours was. ;-)
