An interesting opinion has been published lately in ISGTW in which David Anderson answers no for the question: Is volunteer computing grid or not grid?
If you like BOINC, you may also find CaretCursor to be appealing.

The question would be : what\'s a grid computing ?

Sure that we are not IT professionals. Our environment is different.

We don\'t work, think like others grid computing. And why ? because behind every machine (at home, at work...) there is a human.

      D. Anderson is right when he writes \"They have different capabilities, use different software, and require different skills and mindsets from their users.\"

Perhaps \"we\" are an other (and new) form of grid computing with \"our\" rules, rights and responsibilities.
      Perhaps \"we\" are not.

      edit :
      interesting reading, anyway.
