    Hi SZTAKI Scientists

Please take time to update information about progress of the project. It is important for a lot if not most of us lowly crunchers to receive project progress updates, problems, successes, whats next etc.

This is for me an important part of participating and makes me feel a part of whats going on, it's not sufficient to only give us credits and keep us in the dark.

Don't worry that we wont be able to understand, it makes interesting reading and SZTAKI like most Boinc projects don't pay enough attention to this detail.

    Thank You In Advance.

PS. I am going to post this on all Boinc boards as all Boinc projects are guilty of this.

Consider it done! But I think I've you updated about the infos the best I could. I admit that lately I've been pretty busy, so updates weren't very consistent, but I'll try my best to catch up with...mostly myself :)

          Hmm, two things:

          1) The note said that the pages would be dynamically translated. Was this to say that as they are done we should see them in translated form, or that they were going to be translated in random order?

          2) Is the project in Alpha, beta, or production?

I know a lot of projects do beta testing and are accepting the results as production results and was wondering if this was the case here or not. Mostly I want to know so we can update the Wiki ...

            1. Translation is ment to be dynamic, however we tackle with the same problem as did the guys in Berkeley. Translation is not programming, so is not fun...which makes things way much harder. I'll try to force myself, but it won't be easy to do it alone. (actually, the thing that drained my lust for the translation is that when I asked your help noone voluntiered, the meaning of which for me is that translation is not even so important for any of you...)
So, it will be done, but it is running low prioirty...which priority like I said before has been set by You.

            2. this project is meant to be a fully running project...no alpha, no beta, no zeta. I know we have a bug, affecting windows machines...

I can't translate the Hungarian pages to English by any means - but I'd be happy to take the ones you have already translated and point out any spelling/grammar problems...

How should we communicate, if this would help you? Email? Separate thread here?

I for one will be glad when all the pages get transalated to English it will get a lot more users then will this project. most of the people who I am in a team with won;t join because they cant be bothered to make the effort to find themselves around these pages

I bet it would only take a week to get it fully transalated with a small team of dedicated Volunteers

So if you want any help transalating to English I will also help just tell us what needs to be done

Uhm, might be me... but why re-invent the wheel when it may have been done already? The original Boinc server pages are in English and PHP.

I'm sure you can work off of <a href="http://setiathome2.ssl.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/seti_boinc_html/">this site</a>, or use the en.po file and at most substitute all seti@Home entries with SZTAKI Grid?

First send a letter to kadam (at) sztaki (dot) hu, saying that you wanna participate, till tuesday (09.06.) midnight (timezone: GMT time + 2 hours).
Soon in a confirmation email you'll find 1 piece of php file.

In this file, you have to switch each and every english literal strings between " (doublequote) signs, to an array[member] like this:

                    1. if the string is between " signs

                    2. if the string is longer than 3 words

                    3. if the string only contains short reference (pointing to another php page) tags (1 or 2 words), like "you can find blah, blah here"

and only those strings that satisfy the 3 points above

                    I. change those to $filename[index] array varriables, where filename is the name of the php file without .php, that you are editing and index is a number running from 0, 1, 2...etc.

II. create a filename.inc.php file in which you enumerate the array variables created above and give them as a value (with an = sign) the literal string that you have swithced in the original php file.
Like this(let's say we are editing index.php, and it contains something like: php code...."This is SZTAKI Desktop Grid"..more php code..."you can find this here"..even more php code..):

$index[0] = "This is SZTAKI Desktop Grid"

$index[1] = "you can find this here" </i>

I can't speak about others, but I've failed to volunteer because of the short deadline. Believe or not these days I was pretty busy at my work. The funny thing is that I was migrating our ERP solution and I can say for sure <b> it was not a FUN. </b>. After that I thought that everything is OK as I saw more and more English text appearing on the site.

If there is a need I could give a try to translate a page or too (I believe in the following month-two could find a small amount of time to help to translate the site).
