I have four work units that are still pending and no third work unit issued. One is from February. Are the extra ones going to be issued?

    Message 7990 - Posted 25 Apr 2010 7:16:33 UTC - in response to Message 7989.

3187651 - There were a Client error with one of the results. Now everything is fine, the other two had been sent yesterday, they have 1 month to do it.

3169857 - One of them is still unsent, but it was created only on 16. Apr, I hope it will be sent soon.

3119720, 2990525 - One of them is still unsent and it seems to be pretty old. I will check why it is happening!

I've still got 12 of these, most are from January.

I increased the priority of the remaining results. Most of them is already sent by now. I hope they will be done soon, so you can get the credits.

If you have any further long-time-waiting WUs, please send me the WU IDs so I can give a kick to them! :)

I have about 80 WUs that have been waiting for the third result to be sent out since february or march. See Host IDs 305153 and 316421.

I managed to prioritize up all the results which are older than 15th Feb 2010. (First round, if it works I will do the rest.)
Could you please send me some feedback in a few days if your credits have been granted or not yet. Thx!

Wuid=3219843 has been pending for about 3 months because Task=12208482 is still "Unsent". What is the typical delay for resends such as this?

Also, I tried to provide URL links to the WU and result listed above but, when I did, my message was rejected as SPAM by Akisnet.

I prioritized up the results created before 15th June. There were more than 20000 of them... We are working on a solution so this could not happen that often.

Thank you for the reply! I don't know if it was coincidence but the result I asked about was issued shortly after your reply and it has already been returned and validated.

It happened because the missing result of the WU was created on the 11th June, so it was in the package I prioritized up. :)

Could you run the script again? I have some from September that have the last result needed to validate still unsent. Thanks...

P.S. Any idea when the project is going to stop yet?

I have been processing for this project for only 4 days and I find it interesting that my validated credits of 14700 exceed my pending credits by only about 1000: pending 13700. Obviously that tells me that apparently new, unprocessed work units are assigned to computers by the server while a relatively large cache of partially processed units are awaiting assignment to computers for validation. Logic would seem to dictate that partially processed/validated tasks would take preference over new tasks.

I am probably incorrect in my thinking because I have experienced the same circumstance while processing for other projects but not to this same degree.

I have also 10 Workunits that are pending, the No.3923979 sinc nearly three weeks, an other ist validated the yesterday, the same hour it was uploaded.
Whats the matter, that some units are validated immediately, others are pending for a month?

Thank you for responding; I am now at 27000+ credits granted and 19000 pending, the latter representing approxomately 300 tasks. What frustrates me in such circumstances is that it appears that the Administrator is ignoring a good number of the posts from volunteer contributors that are presenting perceived problems.

Team Boinc^Synergy picked this project as "project of the month" and I do not appreciate a project that may be ignoring their contributors. I will monitor the situation over the weekend and take action as I see fit regarding continued voluntary support, including making a recommendation to the team.

By the way, my recent average credit is 2200 and climbing strongly.

So here I am guys. :) I am not ignoring you, but I was thinking about what to say.

To be honest I understand your point. Of course we could reduce the number of available workunits and this way somehow fasten the time credits will be taken.

On the other hand one of the main things about desktop grids that you cannot tell the exact computational power. So one day this number of workunits are enough, the other day we run out of work.
And also there are lots of pending workunits. For example someone switching off the BOINC client after receiving the workunit. This way we have to wait to the workunit to expire which takes days and it has to be sent out again.

I know that we had some problems with old workunits somehow staying unsent for a long time but we already solved that issue. But to stay on the safe side I will check on it again on Monday.

I will think about a solution but I think an ideal balance would only work but no one knows the right numbers. :)

Kittka: Thank you for your response. I can tell you up front that I have absolutely no knowledge as to what is involved in server management. As a non-technician that is simply "giving back" to mankind in an effort to create a better world, I was simply using some common logic and assuming the practical way to manage various work tasks is first to respond to a computer requesting work to crunch by sending to that computer(s) work units that have already been processed by at least one computer; then obviously it follows that new or virgin units would follow next in the scheme of things. It becomes clearly obvious to me that the matter is not that simple in everyday operations and much more complicated.

Obviously all you can do is your best and all of us expect nothing more.Again thanks for the reply and I hope that replies to inquiries by other contributors will be timely and forthcoming.

I am proud to crunch for this most worthy project.

Hello Kittka. Same problem: forgotten wus... I would think that it should be in your interest to finish the long-outstanding units. I have one such wu: from December 2010. Two guys finished fast but it still has to be sent to the third guy. Why do you allow some units to be so neglected? Are they not important to the project? I just don't get it...

                                            Hi,

Could you please give me the WU ID because I cannot see any WUs stuck before 2011 in the database so I would like to investigate the mysterious WU.

I found the WU. The following happened:

The WU was created on 24 December 2010.
All the results had been sent on the same days and two of them came back successfully a few days later.
However the 3rd result came back on the 3rd January with 'Client detached' error.
On the same day a new result had been created instead of that. Unfortunately it was sent out only 3 months later, 5 Apr 2011, and came back a few seconds later with 'Aborted via gui' error message.
So a new result had been created again on 5 Apr 2011 and it is still pending.

I am really sorry for this whole story but we can say that it is only bad luck...
Anyway, I prioritized up this WU, so hopefully we will get the missing result back very soon. :)

No problem. And thanks. A suggestion: could you program your system to put automatically any job with the lowest WU ID number (the oldest in queue) on top of your priority list. And it's not about me. I think, it would take care of any forgotten WUs for good. Good luck.

                                                    Hi,
                                                    Please check following WUs:
                                                    4767887,4771309,4772207,4772288,4773660,4778048,4778387,4778692,4788824
They were reported two weeks ago already, but still without validation.
Maybe it was caused by uploading problems, but please look at them.

                                                    Thhank you.
