I am happy to announce that we have a new application to run.

The workunits of the new KOPI application will be available during this week.
Please note that it is currently in a beta phase so we are sorry for any convenience in advance. (Hopefully there won't be any.) :)

You can find more information on the main page.

If you have any question please feel free to post it in this thread.

Can you please allow the users to choose which application they prefer to run like so many other BOINC projects?

      TIA

Very interesting initiative this Kopi kiitka. Will other languages besides Hungarian and English be added at a later date, or do these 2 languages already require a large chunk of the SZTAKI processing power?

I imigine this is pretty unique in the GRID world. How did this idea found its way to SZTAKI?

And if you do add other languages......please warn us crunchers as a friendly gesture....I might need to errr....help a....a friend of mine to refrase some stuff ;-)

As soon as these languages seem to work (we have enough computational power to crawl the Wiki pages often enough) we are going to integrate more languages. Of course there will be some announcement before that. :)

The idea of KOPI came from the main developer. Plagiarism started to get his attention during the university. I think he wrote his thesis from this topic as well. Here at SZTAKI he found a way how to extend his ideas and make it available for the public.

Unfortunately there will be some delay. The developers found some bugs and try to kill them quickly, so the KOPI application will be available only next week.

From today the KOPI is available, the WUs will come today or tomorrow latest.
At the moment there are some restrictions:

There is only a Linux version (32/64 bit) - the Windows version will be available in a few weeks
                There is no checkpointing
The progress reporting is not linear (10-20-30-90-100)

Running one WU takes approx. 40 minutes.
By default the application is enabled for everyone but you can switch it off any time.

              Have fun guys! :)

You need to go to 'Your account' -> 'SZTAKI Desktop Grid preferences' -> Edit preferences.

Now that I successfully changed my project prefs to the new KOPI app I am waiting impatiently to get something to crunch... *grin*

                    Any timeframe yet? ;-)

We are now sending out work (in small numbers), if everything is ok we'll have more work next week.

My 3.2GHz Phenom is taking way, way longer than 40 minutes on these KOPI tasks. One WU has been running for 16 hours, and the time to completion is increasing. Should I abort them?

                            Hello,

Should not run so long, please abort the wu, we'll investigate the issue.

I found the bug, it's quite strange, the stemmer can't handle large numbers with a lot of 0-s in them (strangely enough ones and twos are OK). I will try to correct it tomorrow. Maybe I will not stem numbers any more. :-) This WU included the Wiki article about binary numbers.

I'm glad you've found the bug. I look forward to crunching some working KOPI WUs, as I really like the idea of this project. :)
