I do not see any number anywhere that is even close to my current number, and this number has changed before.

What was the reason it deferred? With a little more info someone should be able to figure out what is going on.

Cheers,
Brian

Well, I had the exceeded limit issue so I detached, reattached and got WU\'s and the limit was then at 500. Those 3 crunched and when the last one reported, it was again back to the 1 WU limit. I needed to reboot so I exited BOINC and when I starte BOINC I got this:

12/13/2005 7:44:44 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Computer ID: 6974; location: 54162,62; project prefs: default

Exit BOINC, edit xml to change to \"location: Work\", restarted BOINC and it indicated at work correctly. But I did a manual update and I again get:

12/13/2005 7:45:25 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Sending scheduler request to http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/cgi-bin/scheduler
12/13/2005 7:45:25 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Reason: Requested by user
12/13/2005 7:45:25 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Requesting 17280 seconds of new work
12/13/2005 7:45:30 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Scheduler request to http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/cgi-bin/scheduler succeeded
12/13/2005 7:45:30 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Message from server: No work sent
12/13/2005 7:45:30 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|Message from server: (reached daily quota of 1 results)
12/13/2005 7:45:30 PM|SZTAKI Desktop Grid|New host venue: 54162.62

I think it is all tied together. My client that is still on 4.45 and was always getting work has no problems.

I and others have the same thing. I do have one WU downloaded on one machine, the others can\'t get work because of the limit is set at one. Adam just needs to change it in the software.

Hey Doug,

I believe the upgrade to v5 is being completed at the moment. I get \"Message from server: Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance
\". So you will not be able to attach, get work, anything until Adam and crew is done. Check back in a couple hours. Someone will post the news on BS as soon as it is complete.

Cheers,
Brian

Yes, but he also now has to write all the documentation for EVERYTHING. This in itself could be some time, depending how in-depth he is required to go. This is my favorite project so I want to see it go as well. I have always lived by, "Don't worry about things you can not control". It will be done when it is done. Adam may be prevented by those same bosses from posting the information, we do not know.

Enjoy the weekend and let Adam also.

Adam will get the change over to v.5 when he is allowed. Doing the switchover for SZTAKI is not as easy as for the rest of the BOINC projects because everything is hardcoded in Hungarian. Please read other threads for information before continually complaning. Yes, I would like also to see SZTAKI to v.5 so all my clients will be again crunching. But, there are many other projects to crunch until then.

Keep up the great work Adam. We all look forward to crunching with v.5

Cheers,
Brian

From the looks of your log, BOINC is set to use no more than 1M of disk space which can not be correct as no project would be running. Here is how I have my general setting for memory and disk usage:

Use no more than; 100 GB disk space
Leave at least; 0.1 GB disk space free
Use no more than; 50% of total disk space
Write to disk at most; every 200 seconds
Use no more than; 90% of total virtual memory

My HD's are ~60-80G so the first 2 cover things fine. The "use no more than" is more the key. On a 60G HD it will use no more then 30G, no chance of that ever happening on BOINC. Giving it room to breath will just let BOINC do its thing.

The only memory issues I have had with BOINC were with BURP running at 325M of RAM.

Try using 4.72 CC, it will adjust the time as you crunch WU's to a more accurate guesstimate. "The estimate should drop 10% of the difference between actual and estimated crunch time. The closer that it gets, the more slowly it moves."-JM7.

I think they base the estimates off a 1000M CPU to crunch a WU. I remember reading this in another thread.

Just my 2.5 cents.

Good news here: the WUs with the short deadline have been cancelled, and the deadline from now on is 4 DAYS.

Great news Adam. Looks good, no more panic mode. I think you will see more WU's crunched by the same amount of clients now. Also, good to hear the validation issue has been fixed. Now we can all just crunch away.

Brian
